Dark/White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Introduction

These cookies always go down well and are incredibly easy to make. The only drawback with cookies is that you have to get your hands a little bit dirty in making them and like all baking they tend to leave a mess.

Ingredients:

  1. 250 grams of butter
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1 cup packed brown sugar
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  6. 3 cups all-purpose flour
  7. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  8. 2 teaspoons hot water
  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  10. 1 packet of white chocolate or dark chocolate bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

Notes

  1. Milk chocolate bits don’t seem to work as well (or at least they do not taste quite as nice as the dark/white chocolate) but I would be interested on your feedback on this.
  2. Baking paper on your trays when baking the cookies will make cleanup a breeze.
  3. An electric beater also makes this recipe much easier, having done it both ways.
